The Alcali Silica reaction occurs through alkali in the cement, reactive silica, and moisture in the aggregate. Active silica, alkali and moisture react together, and then they become gelatinous, which is a compound of alkali and silica. These compounds expand in the concrete and start to crack the concrete. The alkali-silica reaction is a long-term continuous process and once the cement starts to crack, there is no way to remedy it. Remedial measures must be taken during the design phase of the concrete.
ASR test chamber contains samples in an environment of %100 relative humidity
Between 20° C – 70° C, the accuracy is 0.5K.
The temperature is continuously saved and displayed as a graph.
ASR sample jars are made of 2mm thick stainless steel and have internal dimensions of 280 x 130 x 400

Alkali-Silica Reaction Tester
An alkali-silica reaction test device is used to determine whether the sample containers have a reaction or not. One of the main reasons for using the device is that alkali in cement is formed together with active silica and moisture in aggregates, while some cracks may occur as a result of the combination of silica, alkali and moisture. In this case, it inevitably causes some problems such as swelling in concrete. Using the alkali silica reaction device, it is determined how the reaction level in the sample containers is.
What is Alkali-Silica Reaction?
In concrete aggregates, silica and concrete voids can combine. Naturally, this situation causes some problems such as swelling and cracking in concrete to come to light. As a result of the combined reactions, gel formation occurs in aggregate concrete together with the moisture effect. In the alkali-silica reaction, if cracks occur both long and continuously, then we can say that there will be no definitive solution unfortunately. For this reason, one of the most important solutions to be followed here is to take necessary precautions against reactions. You can determine the degree of reaction by performing alkali-silica reaction tests during the concrete design phase.
Alkali-Silica Reaction Tester Features
The alkali silica reaction test device, which will perform the reaction measurement processes, is also curious. We can say that it is a product made of 2 MM thick stainless steel. The internal size of the device is set as 280x130x400.
